SRGC May 2007

 

Turkey Creek was the venue for April Tournament. We had 37 players with only 3 no-shows. It was a much better turn-out than last month. Please remember to let Tom Baker know as soon as possible if you are unable to make it to the tournament. The weatherman said it was going to rain but I guess the golf-gods felt a little differently about it and it ended up being a beautiful day. The course was in very good shape…at least I thought so!

4-Ball Qualifier

 

Next month we are meeting at The Ridge on May 24th. The format is Low-net and it is the Net Amateur Qualifier. If you are interested in being in the qualifier please let Tom Baker know and send in an extra $5.00 with your entrance fee.

 

When we were at Castle Oaks last month I saw this next item on the wall and the guy in the Pro-shop was nice enough to make a copy for me.

 

Ye Old Rules For Golfers

  1. Ye SHALT hold golfing in highest esteem. But ye shalt not become NEGLCTFUL of less important matters such as FAMILY and HOME.
  2. Ye SHALT not force thy WIFE nor anyone smaller than thee to CARRY thy CLUBS---without sufficient REMUNERATION. (caddy fee)
  3. Ye SHALT not fake a broken ARM nor a broken LEG nor a muscular SEIZURE when thee sliceth into the ROUGH.
  4. Ye SHALT not tee up thy ball when it lieth in the ROUGH out of sight of thy FELLOW PLAYERS.
  5. Ye SHALT not play thy OPPONENT’s ball just because it lieth CLOSER to the green than thou’s.
  6. Ye SHALT not KICK nor SHOVE nor NUDGE nor BLOW thy ball toward the CUP.
  7. Ye SHALT not curseth when thee TOPPETH a ball nor when thee SLICETH a drive nor when thee landeth in a SAND TRAP. (Thee may, however, curse softly to thyself when thou hast lost more than FOUR BALLS.)
  8. Ye SHALT not KICK thy opponent’s ball into nor thy ball out of SAND TRAPS.
  9. Ye SHALT not wrap thy PUTTER around thy golf bag nor a tree nor thy CADDY’s neck simply because thee missed a TWO-FOOT PUTT.

10. Ye SHALT not expound upon thy LOW SCORE nor upon thy putting prowess to anyone EXCEPTING other GOLFERS—they won’t believe thee anyhow.
