SRGC NEWSLETTER

July 2007

I missed last month’s newsletter because Bud and I went on vacation to Alaska. If you’ve never golfed up there you should try it at least once…it’s quite interesting! So what’s been happening in the SRGC?

The Ridge – We played there in May this year. If you remember last year (’06) we played (?) there in April after there had been HUGE amounts of rain. Well, the course was in MUCH better shape this year! There were fairways and everything! The Ridge was the qualifier for the NCGA Net Amateur. CONGRATULATIONS to our qualifiers: Kathy Donnell, Al Edwards & Al Durst. As I hear more about our representatives I’ll let you know.

Ancil Hoffman – Another good turnout…it’s really nice to see so many of you at the tournaments. We played 1-2-3 Best Ball and the Girls’ Foursome was HOT! We (yes, I was one of them) managed to shoot a 105…our WORST hole was an even par! I think everyone had a really good time, I know The Girls did!

CONGRATULATIONS to our 4 man team (Al Edwards, Jeff Sutter, Terry Siler and Jim Sroka) for qualifying for sectional in team championship with a 117 score (best 2 of 4). Next play will be at Poppy Ridge on July 24th. Good luck you guys!

I got some late breaking news about our 2-Man team (Jeff Sutter & Dan Garcia) that played at Mather..a quote from Jeff Sutter… “We gagged! Both shot 95.”

We will be meeting at Wildhorse in Davis this month. It is another qualifier – the Senior 2-person team. You must choose youur partner ahead of time and qualify as a best-ball team. You must both be 55 or older.
